Nominating Committee Seeking NomineesThe Temple Beth Shalom Board of Trustees is beginning its
annual process of nominating board members for next year's board of
trustees. The nominees will be submitted to the entire congregation for
a vote at the annual meeting in May, 2010. If you have interest in
joining the Board or if you know someone you would like to recommend
for a Board position please contact Ellery Cadel (email: ecadel@columbus.rr.com).
Thank you! Temple Beth Shalom Scrip ProgramScrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you
purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and
prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to
purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other
essentials—and with every purchase, you earn revenue for the Temple.
Purchasing scrip is an easy fundraiser in which to participate. You
contribute to the Temple by making regular household purchases you
would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can
be purchased with scrip. Check with TBS Scrip Coordinator David
Neubauer (253-7654) for the latest participating retailer list, or
visit www.glscrip.com. Then put
your shopping dollars to work for the Temple! Oneg Volunteers NeededPlease help sustain the longstanding TBS tradition of
congregant supplied Oneg Shabbat (the snack after Friday night
services). This is a wonderful way to connect to the TBS community and
it isn't much work. You cut up a few veggies, maybe bake some cookies
(or let Kroger's do the baking for you), possibly some cheese and
crackers. You pick up a challa for the bimah. You come to services a
little early and stay a little later to clean up. You visit with your
fellow congregants, make a few new friends. What could be nicer? You
want help, ask someone to share the work with you or I'll help you line
up a partner. We have several dates available for the upcoming year.
It's a nice way to acknowledge a family yahrzeit or a special event
like a baby naming or an anniversary. Please help carry on this
wonderful TBS tradition. Would like to participate but food preparation
doesn't interest you? You can also make a cash contribution to the Oneg
Fund and we'll have cookie trays and the challa delivered. Contact
Miriam Siegfried (mcsfried@sbcglobal.net,
870-8707
evenings)
to
volunteer to provide a Friday night Oneg.
